Muskkaan Bafnaa in her graduation gown at Harvard

Your facilitator

Hi, I'm Muskkaan.

I trained as an architect, worked in one of India's best-known firms, and then realised it wasn't the life I wanted. I rebuilt my path, and it took me to Harvard. Now I help students find their own direction sooner than I did.

  • Ed.M. '25, Harvard Graduate School of Education
  • Founder, Evolving Thinkers
  • Architecture, Sir J.J. College of Architecture

My path

Not a straight line. That's the point.

  1. 2017 – 2022

Architecture, Sir J.J. College of Architecture, Mumbai

Five years of studios, drawings and late nights. I did everything I was supposed to do.

  2. After graduation

    Architect at Hafeez Contractor

I worked at one of India's leading architecture practices, on the career I had spent years preparing for.

  3. The turn

    Realising it wasn't for me

I had reached the goal, and I wasn't happy. I chose to rethink what I wanted my life to look like, whatever other people expected of me.

  4. Re-route one

    Founding Evolving Thinkers

I started Evolving Thinkers as an early childhood space, helping children aged 3 to 7 build focus, confidence and resilience. I'm still the facilitator and developer behind everything it does.

  5. 2025

Ed.M., Harvard Graduate School of Education

Education had become my path, so I went to Harvard to study how people learn and grow.

  6. Re-route two

    Career Clarity Lab

And then I re-routed again. Today I bring everything I've learned to older students, through the programme I wish I'd had at fourteen. Changing direction is part of the map, not a mistake on it.

Why I do this

A note from me to you

When I was choosing my career, I didn't really know what I was choosing. I knew what was respected, what was expected, and what sounded good. I didn't know what a normal Tuesday in that job would feel like, or whether it matched the person I was becoming.

So I spent five years in architecture school and then worked in the field before I admitted it wasn't for me. Those years weren't wasted. They taught me resilience, and they taught me that it is never too late to begin again. But I would have loved for someone to sit me down earlier and ask the right questions.

That's what Career Clarity Lab is. Think of it as advice from an older sister who has been through it. I won't tell you what to become. I'll help you figure out what matters to you, show you how many paths there really are, and remind you that changing your mind is allowed.

Things I wish someone had told me

Six things I'd tell my fourteen-year-old self

  • Knowing what not to do is just as valuable.Every path you rule out makes the right one easier to see.
  • Ask what a normal day looks like.Talk to people who actually do the job, not just people who admire it.
  • Finishing something isn't the same as choosing it.You can complete a degree and still decide it isn't your life's work.
  • Other people's expectations are information, not instructions.Listen to them. Then decide for yourself.
  • The career you'll love might not have a name yet.Build skills and self-knowledge. They travel with you to any field.
  • It's never too late to begin again.Changing your mind isn't failure. It's learning what fits.
